MetroWest is about to get a late-night halal option that many families north of Boston already know. Halal Eatz, the halal burger and rice-platter restaurant with locations in Burlington and Revere, has won approval from Framingham's Board of License Commissioners to open its third Massachusetts restaurant at 341 Cochituate Road in the Route 30 Mall, according to What Now Boston (Cat Broughton, Oct. 21, 2026). The approved hours run until 2 a.m. daily.
There is no opening date yet. What Now Boston reported that it has asked the owners for details, and Mass Halal will update this story when a date is announced.
What was approved
Framingham's District 2 newsletter reported on Oct. 16 that Halal Eatz was on the License Commission's public hearing agenda for the following Monday, for a new license at 341 Cochituate Road near the New York Bagel Factory. According to the posted agenda, the proposed hours were 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.
At that hearing, What Now Boston reported, the board approved the food-service license in a 4–0 vote. The approval depends on the business meeting outstanding tax, fee, departmental and documentation requirements. The board settled on a 2 a.m. closing time every day, an hour earlier than the owners had asked for.
According to a Facebook post from the local page Framingham Unfiltered, cited by What Now Boston, the Framingham restaurant is expected to be the chain's larger flagship. It has expanded into part of the former Boston Market space. The plans call for an expanded menu and specialty drinks, 55 seats and a maximum occupancy of 100.
Why the owners asked for 3 a.m.: suhoor
The most interesting part of the hearing, for Muslim readers, was the reason for the late hours. What Now Boston reported that the applicants first asked to stay open until 3 a.m. so they could offer a special suhoor menu during Ramadan. Suhoor is the meal Muslims eat before dawn, before the day's fast begins. A restaurant open in those hours means a fasting student, night-shift worker or young family can get a hot meal without cooking in the middle of the night.
The representatives also expected late-night customers from Worcester, Providence and other nearby communities. One of them said the Revere location had been packed on many nights during Ramadan.
Commissioners questioned whether a schedule built around Ramadan justified a 3 a.m. closing all year. One noted that Ramadan lasts only about a month, so a year-round extension would go beyond the seasonal need. That is why the board chose 2 a.m.
The door is not closed on later Ramadan hours. According to What Now Boston, commissioners advised the owners to file a request in late December 2026 or early January 2027 if they want a temporary 3 a.m. closing for the holy month. No seasonal extension was approved at the hearing.
What Halal Eatz serves, and its halal status
Halal Eatz was founded in 2021, and What Now Boston described its menu as 100% halal and certified by Halal Monitoring Services (HMS). HMS's own directory lists both existing restaurants as certified: Halal Eatz Burlington at 195 Cambridge Street and Halal Eatz Revere at 750 Washington Avenue. In the Mass Halal directory, both listings show HMS certification through Dec. 31, 2026. HMS describes the businesses it certifies as serving "authentic, hand-slaughtered Zabiha Halal." The new Framingham restaurant does not yet appear in HMS's directory, so if certification matters to you, check HMS's list or ask staff once the doors open.
The chain's website lists burgers made with 5.3-ounce patties, including a Double Cheeseburger, Crispy Chicken Burger, Nashville Hot Chicken Burger and Veggie Burger. Its platters include chicken over rice, beef and lamb over rice, and a combo, all with a choice of the restaurant's handmade red and white sauces. There are also gyros, subs and wraps, chicken wings and tenders, and homemade falafel, which the site suggests as a vegan option. For drinks, the site mentions imported choices such as Thums Up, Limca and Jeera Masala. Desserts include cheesecakes, milkshakes and baklava.
The website does not list a Framingham menu or prices yet. We have not seen what the "expanded menu" will include, and we will not guess.
Where it fits in Framingham
The Route 30 Mall sits on Cochituate Road, which is Route 30. The same 341 Cochituate Road address is also listed for Framingham's Dave's Hot Chicken. If you want options while you wait, our guide to halal restaurants in Framingham and Natick, published this morning, covers biryani on Route 9, Turkish kebabs, Mediterranean plates and where to pray nearby, including the Islamic Society of Framingham.
If you live closer to the existing locations, you can find them in the Mass Halal directory: Halal Eatz Burlington and Halal Eatz Revere.
What we still don't know
- Opening date. None has been announced.
- Exact hours. The license allows up to 2 a.m. The opening time and day-by-day hours will be set by the restaurant.
- Ramadan hours. Any 3 a.m. closing would need a separate request and approval, which the board suggested filing around the turn of the year.
- Menu and prices for the Framingham flagship.
For MetroWest Muslims, a certified halal restaurant that wants to serve suhoor is worth watching. We will follow the story and post the opening date as soon as it is confirmed.
