This Privacy Policy explains how Mass Halal ("Mass Halal", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Mass Halal website at masshalal.com (including the Mass Halal Journal and Mass Halal Directory) and the Mass Halal apps for iPhone and Android.

The Mass Halal app

• No account, no personal data. The app doesn't ask you to sign up and doesn't collect your name, email, contacts, location or other personal information. It contains no analytics or advertising SDKs and doesn't track you.
• Stored only on your device. Your favorite places, the city you choose for prayer times, your prayer reminder settings, and a saved copy of articles, events and listings (for offline use) are stored only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes them. We can't see this information.
• Prayer reminders. If you turn on reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
• Network requests. To show content, the app downloads articles, events, listings and images from masshalal.com, and prayer times from the Aladhan prayer-times service (api.aladhan.com). For prayer times, the app sends the map coordinates of the city you picked from a list, not your actual location. Maps on listing pages use Apple Maps. Like any internet request, these services receive technical information such as your IP address and device type, which they may log under their own privacy policies.
• Calendar. "Add to Calendar" opens Apple's standard calendar sheet. You decide whether to save the event, and the app doesn't read your calendar.
• Website pages inside the app. Some screens, such as full articles, open pages of masshalal.com inside the app. In the app, advertising and analytics scripts on those pages are blocked, so no ads are shown and no ad or analytics cookies are set there.

The Android app works the same way: no account, no analytics or advertising SDKs, and no personal data collected. It does not use your location. It downloads listings and photos from masshalal.com and saves a copy on your device so it works offline; deleting the app (or clearing its storage) deletes that copy. Like any internet request, masshalal.com receives technical information such as your IP address and device type to deliver the files. Buttons for calls, websites and directions open your phone's own dialer, browser or maps app.

• Visit counter. We count total page views only to understand site traffic. The counter stores only a running total, with no personal profiles, tracking cookies, or stored IP addresses. Repeat page loads count again. We do not sell this data.
• masshalal.com uses Google Analytics to understand page views, and Google may process data under Google’s privacy policies.
• Advertising. Our website uses Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, which can include personalized ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn more and control ad personalization at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://adssettings.google.com.
• Security and performance. Our website is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process technical information such as IP addresses to protect the site from abuse.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider may keep standard logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and time of visit) for security and maintenance.
• Information you send us. If you contact us, we use your message and contact details only to reply to you.
• Demo features. Some directory features, such as the "demo bag", are demonstrations. We don't take orders or payments.

Children

Mass Halal is a general-audience service and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent personal information. We don't share personal information except as described above or when the law requires it.

Your choices

You can delete the app at any time to remove everything it stored. You can turn prayer reminders off in the app or in iPhone Settings. In your browser you can block or delete cookies and opt out of personalized ads using the links above.

Accuracy

Directory information, halal status and event details come from public sources and businesses and can change. Prayer times are calculated (ISNA method) and may differ from your local masjid's schedule. Please confirm details directly.

Changes

We may update this policy. We'll change the "Last updated" date when we do.
