ANDOVER — If your school run took longer than usual this Friday morning, you were not alone. A water main break in the Bald Hill area brought Andover Department of Public Works crews and Andover Police to the scene on Oct. 2 and slowed traffic during morning drop-off.

The Town of Andover says DPW is responding to a water main break near 320 High Plain Road. The road is closed in that area, and nearby properties will be temporarily without water while crews make repairs. Once service is restored, crews will flush nearby hydrants, and the town says residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water.

What it means for school

In notices sent to families early Friday, High Plain Elementary School and Wood Hill Middle School said the break is impacting traffic and that the community will need to seek alternate routes as advised by Andover Police. Both schools said the incident does not impact the schools themselves, and students who arrive late because of it will not be marked tardy.

If you are still on the road, take a breath, follow officers' directions and posted detours, and give the crews room to work.
