Forecast note: Prepared September 22, 2026, for September 26–27. Conditions and official guidance may change. This community article is not an official weather warning.

Dear brothers and sisters,

As we look ahead to the weekend of September 26–27, please take a little time to prepare your household and check on those around you. Forecasters are monitoring a potential coastal storm that could bring strong winds, rain, rough seas and coastal flooding to parts of Massachusetts.

In its September 22 afternoon update, the National Weather Service reported increasing confidence in an impactful coastal storm from Friday into the weekend. However, its exact track, strength and timing remain uncertain. The greatest concerns include exposed coastal areas, with flooding risks around high tides in Nantucket Harbor and potentially Boston Harbor. Conditions farther inland will depend on the storm’s path.

Preparing early can help families approach the weekend calmly. Please charge your phones and portable batteries, keep flashlights available, and check your supply of drinking water, food and essential medications. Secure outdoor furniture, rubbish bins and other loose items before winds strengthen. These are sensible precautions for coastal storms and possible power interruptions.

If conditions become hazardous, consider postponing unnecessary journeys. Never drive or walk through floodwater, even when it appears shallow. Respect road closures and follow any evacuation instructions from local officials. Your safety is more important than reaching a destination on time.

If you use a portable generator during an outage, operate it outdoors, at least 20 feet from doors, windows and vents. Never run it inside a home or garage.

Brothers and sisters, please also remember our elderly neighbors, people living alone, and families who may need additional assistance. A phone call before the storm can help someone arrange supplies, transportation or support without anyone having to travel in dangerous conditions.

For those planning mosque visits, community gatherings or outdoor activities, check directly with organizers before leaving home. Please share verified updates and avoid circulating alarming messages without a reliable source.

Follow the National Weather Service and your town’s emergency notices as the weekend approaches. This article reflects the forecast available on September 22; conditions and official guidance may change.

May Allah protect our families, our neighbors and everyone working to keep our communities safe. Let us meet the coming days with preparation, patience and care for one another.
